The children (Brenda and David) of Cliff Gilby, the man who paid a shilling for his own accordion lessons and then showed Joe what he had learnt for sixpence, recently contacted the side. David, who now lives in Switzerland, was trying to explain to Swiss colleagues what Morris dancing was and came across Joe’s web page. He was taken aback when he read the obituary and of the story his father never told them; they knew Joe well.
