Bob Hart

Bob was one of the founder members of The Side. He began at the age of 14, and was taught by Mary Shunn.  Wantage was a very quiet place when Bob was a lad, with very little for youngsters to do.  So, they decided to make their own entertainment and approached Mary Shunn for help in forming a Morris Team.

Practice was on a Wednesday night, as it always has been, with music provided by Mary Shunn on the Piano.  The Kings Arms was their `local'.  Lots of help was provided by the other local Sides, especially in providing a music for public performances.  It was some time before they had their own musician for public performances in the form of the late Joe Marns.

Bob has a powerful singing voice, and is the balladeer of The Side.
